However when the setup is complete and I arrive at the desktop, if I go into Settings -> Region & language the default Display Language is set to English (United States). Damn it!!!

At this point, all 8 Anders class shuttles have made their way out past Uranus in different directions. 449 of 620 system bodies have been surveyed, but targets are fewer and farther between the farther the ships move from the sun. The shuttles have been on-mission for times ranging from 6 months to 1 year and none of them have expended even half of their fuel, but the idea that they’ll eventually have to return home to refuel is logistically challenging. Anders 1 would take 102 days, 8 hours to return to Earth at its current distance, for example. The Anders shuttles might need parts or crew replacements as well, for example, LT. Kim Newton died of a heart attack on Anders 4 a week ago and the ship has had to continue on without a senior officer aboard.
To address these problems, Admiral Catherine Davidson commissions the design of a light tanker.
The Mosquito class Light Tanker is twice as fast as the Anders class Geological Survey Shuttles because it sports twin nuclear thermal engines, has an even longer deployment time, a huge maintenance life with spare parts to lend out to other ships, carries over a quarter of a million liters of fuel, and has a spare berth for an extra passenger to bring replacement crewmen and officers into the field. A lone Mosquito class Light Tanker carries enough fuel to refuel all 8 Anders shuttles from empty ro 82.5% full, should the need arise.

The 100 km/s Sagan class Shuttle also needs a replacement, as Sector Commander Rhys Gardner contemplates an initial plan for creating offworld colonies and mining outposts.
The Pollack class Shuttle is 10.5 times as fast as the Sagan, has an excess of maintenance life, fuel, and deployment time, and can carry up to 12 passengers. It’s the fastest ship yet designed and could travel 1 au in 39.6 hours.

These shuttles are expensive by some standards, with the Pollack costing about as much as a 500-trooper strong TN Garrison Battalion, with the Mosquito costing closer to 1 ½ Garrison Battalions.

The Oscar Cox Administration, along with Rhys Gardner and other key leaders review the progress of geological scans of the Sol system.
At this point, 470 of 620 Sol system bodies have been scanned by either the 8 Anders shuttles or their predecessor, the Kaskuh. Almost everything within the orbit of Neptune has been surveyed. A total of 52 bodies have Trans-Newtonian deposits detectable by orbit. None of them as impressive as Earth’s, though Earth’s reserves will eventually dry out for various minerals in as little as 18.4 years (for Sorium, presently at 420,000 tons of unmined minerals) to 95 years (for Duranium with almost 2.2 million tons of unmined minerals). Eventual establishment of mining colonies throughout the sector is key to building a long-running TN industry and the prosperous and well-protected civilization that comes with it.
Of particular note are the Galilean moons of Jupiter, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto, which have significant and diverse TN reserves and are also reasonable candidates for colonization. Jupiter itself also has impressive Sorium deposits.
Because of their proximity, Mars, Luna, Mercury, and Venus are all good mining colony candidates as well, and most comets are too.

The first is the Hermes class Cargo Ship, which will be used to bring infrastructure to both Luna and Mars for an eventual colonies there. There is one shipyard with two slips that is retooling to produce the class and the first two ships should be available as early as July. Later, a suitable cology ship will be designed, but the priority is to get material, infrastructure, heavy equipment and supplies out to create a base of operations.

With advancements in Gauss cannon research and nuclear pulse engines, Fleet Command introduces a design for the Mauler class Armed Shuttle. It has a trio of nuclear pulse engines, a 14.5b km operational range, reinforced combat armor, and a Gauss cannon, as well as its own small active sensor. The shuttle is incredibly fast at 2400 km/s and is humanity's first space combat vessel. It's thought to be an effective point defense asset if paired with a finer resolution sensor and is the first example of real force projection power within the Sol system.

At the end of February, Fleet Command is expected to redesign a new IPBM with improved engines, engine maximization, and better warheads, along with true fire controls and sensors for all missile bases.

Research is completed into Levitated Pit-Implosion Warhead and Maximum Engine Power Modifier (1.25) technologies by Bradley Shepherd and Kane Austin, respectively
This allows Fleet Command to design a new line of Interplanetary Ballistic Missiles.

(Note that I SMed in development of the actual missile. I know this isn’t a good use of resources, but it’s fun to RP and cost of actual construction is enough for these larger missiles)
Compared to the Mk 1, this is 62.5 times faster, much more accurate, and has 26% more explosive impact. It’s shorter range, but will be paired with a tracking system that should allow it to actually hit moving targets unlike the previous model.

There is now a full squadron of 8 functioning Mauler class Armed Shuttles constructed and training in Sol. Fleet Command is collecting and broadcasting extensive propaganda footage of the craft to show off their speed and weapons-power.
